## ▪️ CAPITAL BACKBONE

Gold strengthened its foundation through the week, closing at $4,571.58 on Sunday after testing $4,491 midweek and recovering hard into the weekend. The metal gained 1.45% Friday alone as Treasury yields eased and buyers stepped into the consolidation. The floor held above $4,490 throughout.

Silver tracked the same path, holding the $63-$66 range and firming alongside gold's recovery. Industrial demand from solar and grid storage anchors the base.

The structural picture stayed intact. RBC Capital Markets reaffirmed a $4,600 average gold forecast for 2026, rising to $4,800 by year-end. The mining index gained 2.40% on the week as bullion firmed.

## ▪️ THE ENTRY POINT

On Thursday, SpaceX confirmed in a regulatory filing it will go public on June 12, targeting a $1.75 trillion valuation on the Nasdaq. It would be the largest float in history. OpenAI and Anthropic have signaled their own intentions to list this year.

Strategists drew the comparison fast. A flurry of mega-cap IPOs arriving at once is the pattern that marked the late-1990s peak. All three have yet to post an annual profit.

Stocks climbed anyway. The S&P 500 closed its eighth straight winning week. Gold firmed in parallel. When the most speculative supply in history meets the market while hard assets strengthen, two clocks run at different speeds.

## ▪️ STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS

***The hard version:*** Nvidia reported blockbuster results on May 20, beating on revenue and guidance and reigniting the AI-linked complex. SoftBank rose 20% Thursday and another 11% Friday, adding over $35 billion in market value. The Dow closed Friday at 50,579.70, a fresh record, up 2.13% on the week. Then the Fed meeting minutes, released after the close, pointed to a policy shift that strategists read as a warning for an expensive market.

***Plain language:*** The biggest chip company delivered. Records followed. Then the Fed hinted the easy phase is ending.

For hard assets, the implication is structural. Strong earnings and record highs sit against a Fed signaling caution. That tension keeps gold's floor rising even as stocks climb.

*Numbers show Friday market close. Weekly percentages show week-over-week change.*

## ▪️ WHAT MATTERS / WHAT DOESN'T

**What matters: The Fed minutes pointing to a policy shift.**

The minutes released after Friday's close signaled a change in direction under the new chair. The market is pricing a Fed that may no longer support every dip with the promise of easing.

A record-high market resting on a Fed that is stepping back is structural tension. When the backstop moves, the floor under risk assets moves with it. This controls the next quarter, not the IPO headlines.

**What doesn't: The daily Iran headline swings.**

Markets jumped Wednesday on a report that a U.S.-Iran draft resolution was "near," then gave it back when the report proved thin. Tehran and Washington remain split on enriched uranium and Strait of Hormuz tolls.

The pattern repeats weekly. Until both sides sign and the Strait fully reopens, the Iran reports move the tape without moving the structure.

## ▪️ MARKET BEARINGS

**SoftBank Group** [$SFTBY ( ▼ 3.6% )](https://stocktwits.com/symbol/SFTBY?utm%5Fsource=core-sector.beehiiv.com&utm%5Fmedium=referral&utm%5Fcampaign=spacex-confirms-a-1-75-trillion-float-the-last-time-this-happened-was-1999) Extended a scorching rally, rising 20% Thursday and another 11% Friday after Nvidia's earnings lifted every AI-linked name. The two-day move added over $35 billion in market value. SoftBank has become the clearest proxy for leveraged AI sentiment in the market.

**Dell Technologies** [$DELL ( ▼ 2.65% )](https://stocktwits.com/symbol/DELL?utm%5Fsource=core-sector.beehiiv.com&utm%5Fmedium=referral&utm%5Fcampaign=spacex-confirms-a-1-75-trillion-float-the-last-time-this-happened-was-1999) Jumped double digits ahead of next week's earnings on upbeat data-center expectations. The move shows capital still chasing the hardware layer of the AI buildout, not just the chips.

**Texas Instruments** [$TXN ( ▼ 3.65% )](https://stocktwits.com/symbol/TXN?utm%5Fsource=core-sector.beehiiv.com&utm%5Fmedium=referral&utm%5Fcampaign=spacex-confirms-a-1-75-trillion-float-the-last-time-this-happened-was-1999) Advanced on an analyst upgrade tied directly to data-center power demand. The structural read: the market is now pricing the electricity bottleneck behind AI, not only the silicon. Old-line chipmakers are being repriced as power plays for the buildout ahead.

## ▪️ AUTHOR'S LENS

| Marcus Grant, The Strategist: I have watched eight-week win streaks before. They feel permanent right up to the week they end. The largest IPO in history landing June 12, with two more unprofitable giants behind it, is the kind of supply that marks tops.I am not calling the turn. I am noting that the Fed just stepped back from the punch bowl, and the crowd is still dancing. | ![Marcus Grant](https://storage.ghost.io/c/8c/09/8c09bf02-2863-4e2f-9427-328b96b722da/content/images/2026/08/for_lens_-t-1769788746-59.png) |

Dow 50,579, up 2.13%. Russell 2000 up 2.72%, leading the week. Eighth straight green week for the S&P.I am watching the IPO calendar against the Fed minutes. Three companies with no annual profit are racing to list into a market the Fed just flagged as expensive. I keep my eyes on the floor, not the ceiling. |
